Faux fur. I did several "Brand" tests: the fur of my Ugg boots, my cat, my hair. Real fur/hair burns relatively slowly and smells like burnt hair. The "fur" from this car seat immediately stands up and smells like burnt polyester (I know). Can't imagine this product on a hot day in my hot car! I bought gray tips, the colors are light.
