AirFly does a great job, but wired headphones still have some advantages AirFly can't beat. Pros: AirFly is small and light. It fits easily in your carry-on, and the included carrying case protects you from losing the small headphone cable and USB-to-micro-USB charging cable. I usually carry my AirPods on planes when I travel so I can listen to music on my iPhone. This device also allows me to listen to the inflight entertainment system without having to carry another pair of wired headphones or use the cheap free headphones you get on the plane. Connecting AirPods to AirFly is easy and the sound quality is good. Cons: Like any other wireless technology, it requires charging. I've found the AirFly battery to last about as long as my AirPods, which is around 4-5 hours. If you're on a short flight, you don't need to charge your headphones, but on a long flight, you need to take a break to charge your AirFly and AirPods. AirFly can be charged while in use if the headphone jack and USB port on the aircraft's onboard system are close together. However, I've found that I still need to charge my AirPods, which is something you don't have to worry about with traditional wired headphones. There's also a slight delay in the audio, as the AirFly has to convert the analog signal to digital in order to send it to the headphones via Bluetooth. This takes some time and introduces a slight lag, but I didn't notice it very much. All in all AirFly is great if you have a flight that is less than 5 hours. For longer flights, consider bringing a good pair of wired headphones so you can listen to in-flight entertainment without having to stop and charge.
