When I first got the light I thought the controller was defective because it didn't increase or decrease when programmed and I saw other reviews of defective controllers. I contacted Jessica from MicMol and she walked me through the programming required to get the coverage I wanted. After the repair, the light worked exactly as expected. I have to say these lights are 100% BRIGHT. Until we get more big plants and hiding spots for our 2 bluegills the midday max setting is 30% which is still good for the plants in the tank to grow well. The controller itself isn't the most user-friendly. It takes some patience to scroll through options and change options, and there's no option to scroll back while moving forward. If you make a typo, you'll have to start over and scroll forward. That would be my only suggestion for improvement. We had the light for about a week with no problems once we got it properly programmed.
