Unfortunately the flashlight was damaged in transit due to poor packaging. What I can say is that this is a great design. I wish the controller was a bit more complex. However, it works great when sorted out. Even though it was broken, I managed to get it working well enough to at least test it. So I tested a 55 gallon tank that was 48 inches long. When I first got the light I thought the controller was defective because it didn't increase or decrease when programmed and I saw other reviews of defective controllers. I contacted Jessica from MicMol and she walked me through the programming required to get the coverage I wanted. After the repair, the light worked exactly as expected. I have to say these lights are 100% BRIGHT. Until we get more big plants and hiding spots for our 2 bluegills the midday max setting is 30% which is still good

Very happy with the lanterns so far. Bought 2 for my 8 foot 200 gallon aquarium. That was 72 watts each. I had 96 watts actinic plus 96 watts 50/50. So each 72w bulb replaces my old 192w bulb. Since I have 2, the tank light is now 144 watts instead of 384 watts. A picture on the left shows the old 192 watts and on the right 72 micromole watts at 90% brightness. OK! When I got the light I was VERY impressed with the build quality. The lighting is fantastic, the fit was perfect for what I needed. The only issue I had was the controller and button bug/programming. The light features a digital controller that sets a TON of different time-based settings for EACH spectrum of light (white, blue, and "special"/red).
