We bought one of these lights for a heavily planted aquarium when the undersized plants were stunted due to lack of light. The taller plants grew so well through the overhead light that they darkened the bottom of the tank. They were easy to cut, but they grew back very quickly. I cut them back very heavily and installed this light. The problem seems to have been solved, so we immediately ordered three more for our other aquariums. They work as advertised and are inexpensive. Hope they last a long time!
