Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 614-002 CV Joint Boot Kit: Ideal for Select Models โ€“ A Comprehensive Review by Kofi Wills

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The included strips require a special tool for installation. There were no tapes in the box. I still recommend them.

I originally bought this from Revain. Read the entire review. I recommend them. Now they are on my car and working. I installed them with a Dorman air-powered installation tool. I just had to replace the outer CV boots on both sides of my 2010 Toyota Corolla. I was given the wrong part number. I ended up buying them at an AutoZone store in another county (long drive)* Not only were they the wrong size, one of the boxes was missing two straps.* Not only were the straps missing, they required a special tool. . The Dorman technician said I didn't do anything, but I did. Went to several parts stores to find a tool - it's only available online. As a result, I bought a type that tightens with a screwdriver. I still recommend them with the following suggestions: 1. Buy them from Revain in advance or buy them locally after receiving an incomplete or wrong set. They carry several spare parts warehouses.2. Purchase a Revain band tool before you begin. You will need it and it will be cheaper than other sites.3. If you speak to a Dorman engineer, double-check all of the advice.4. Use Dorman's stretcher if you don't want to drag the whole axle. It's usually pretty easy to swap out the entire axle once you get to the point where you can replace the external CV boot BUT some axles just won't come off. If you buy the whole axle, the CV boots are usually already fitted!
