Review on Safe and Comfortable: Peg Perego Orion Front Mount Child Seat by Michael Briggs

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best front seat for toddlers

A clear 5* item. Way better than any others we've tried. The thick plastic is sturdy and well-made, and will hold its shape even for a 25-pound baby. All assembly components are strong and properly finished. General sense of quality throughout. Easily and securely mounts to most bike frames, including dual suspension. The only exception might be triple 20-inch city bikes with a high stem. Can still be fixed but can be uncomfortably low for both parent and child. Fastening system - explosion. You attach a very compact clip to the frame of the bike that doesn't get in your way at all when riding alone. The seat itself, together with the support spring, snaps into and out of the clip at the push of a button. The seller can supply an additional clamp if desired to fit both parents' bikes and move the seat between them as needed. The child restraint system includes shoulder belts, a safety bar and footrests/belts. Keeping our wavy, restless toddler indoors and safe which is far from easy. All in all, clearly the best front drive system available. 1 year old update: still holding up well, strong enough for a 30lb baby. So far no complaints. A small problem, the lugs that hold the footrests are quite small, so the child can free their foot with a targeted tug upwards. It would probably be possible to clip these stops in place, but they seem too small to be of any importance. The seat handle latch, on the other hand, is quite tight and difficult for a person with small fingers to open. But I think that's on purpose.
