What is that thing supposed to do again?

If you thought this was an auto leveler for your Ender 3, think again. I'm not sure what it actually does other than showing a red or blue LED. The installation instructions say it well, but something is missing. I'm not an absolute layman, but I was expecting a little more detail. You need to know what motherboard your printer has. It will also most likely require a firmware update. (This is the easiest part.) The physical installation instructions are pretty straightforward once you know what to look for on your motherboard. Some, like 4.2.2, are ready to use with these instructions. For older motherboard models, you may need to check the Creality website for explanations. It is also helpful to read the comments on the forum. Anyway, mine installed correctly and updating the firmware was very easy. It is available for free download from the Creality website. My problem was when it was actually connected. Made the recommended adjustments to the Gcode settings and everything looked fine. He went around the printing platform and marked 9 different points and then returned to his original position. The problem was that it was never at the right Z-axis point and I couldn't level the bed with it to save my life. This always resulted in the hotend stopping at least 15-30mm above where it should have been. The jet wasn't by the bed. I adjusted the Z settings but it had no effect. I even manually adjusted the height and it always returned to its original position, but much higher than it should have been. I fixed bugs every night after work for a week. hours at a time. Eventually I got tired of changing the color from blue to red and poking around at the board. I removed it and went back to the paper method. The board is now super flat and my prints come out great. So, I have a new $50 paperweight! Hooray!
