If your axle won't snap out try this one
When repeated beating couldn't get the axle off my hub for wheel bearing replacement I bought this one. Unlike the smaller versions you can pick up at auto parts stores, this thing is a behemoth. When I attached it to the hub, the pin pressing on the axle generated quite a bit of force when tightened. It only took two hits with a small sledgehammer on the end of the tightened bolt to loosen the axle. If you're dealing with an axis that just won't move, this tool is definitely worth trying. What may take hours to loosen may only take minutes with this tool.
