Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good switches/functions, poor English text conversion

*UPDATE 17/06* I believe the problem I had with the contacts of the switches when wet was related to the gasket that goes between the dash and console runs. The supplied rubber gasket/sleeve is made of thin rubber and does not provide a good seal. After weeding out a few options, I realized that this was the weak link in the system. So I put some sea silicone around the edge of the slab. I've ridden it in the rain since then and NO MORE PROBLEMS with unwanted chain contact! Upgrading to 4 stars: Still a small deduction for the always-on bottom LEDs (see original review for a fix) and another small deduction for the utterly useless padding they contain. It's great when it works and I think it will work fine now that I've sealed the edges to keep water from getting to the back of the panel where all the wire connections are. *UPDATE 5/26* Having been out on the water on a very rainy day I don't think it should be called waterproof and certainly not recommended for marine use. It's not fried, but moisture is getting in somewhere, causing some of the switches to be plugged in and turned on even though they're obviously in the off position. When it's dry, it's great. But if you're running in a marine environment, you'd better look elsewhere. I've downgraded my original rating from 4 stars to 2: I believe the 1 star rating should be reserved for the products that totally fail in every way or are otherwise grossly misrepresented. This panel works great when dry so I don't think giving it a 1 is correct. *Original review* Overall, this product is worth the money. However, it's probably not worth *more*. When installing it in my center console, 2 screws broke leaving me with the task of extracting cheap Chinese metal from fiberglass. Not the easiest task. After the 2nd screw broke I went to my equipment basket and got some stainless steel mounting screws, drilled holes for them and installed them instead. Much happier. The switches, pressure gauges and sockets appear to be of decent quality. The battery gauge is accurate and very handy to check the residual voltage (I drive with my starter battery, so over-discharging can result in a bad ride). With 6 switches on the panel I was able to control several components on my boat that were not disabled such as: B. my stereo. Note that if you set this up according to the attached diagram, your battery will be constantly drained from the bottom LEDs. Switches are illuminated. I just removed the bottom wire from each switch so only the square top light comes on when the switch is turned on. I thought about connecting the main power wire to the ignition circuit, but it's a big mess of wires and I didn't want to scour the internet to find out which wire only supplies 12v when the key is on. I also like the idea of completely disabling all ignition components while still having full control over the rest of the electronics. The real highlight of this article were the stickers for labeling the switches. There was a transparent set and a black set that glowed in the dark. I used a clear set over a square indicator light and black glow stickers in the center of the switch housing. The "interesting" part of this is the text on the stickers. This is the worst writing job I've ever seen in my life, with numerous misspellings, extra letters, etc. My first grader could have done better text for the labels! Obviously this doesn't affect functionality in any way, so no deductions for that. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the constantly burning bottom row of lights and the incredibly weak hardware. Let's hope the switches and sockets can withstand the weather and last a long time!
