(My personal experience, can't say it happens to everyone.) In my aquarium it practically catches fish on its own. I later took it fishing on my boat and the fish watched them jump into the boat with the net just lying on the deck. I had to remove it because the game warden warned me about too many 'caught' fish. I explained to him that it wasn't me. I pulled the net ashore and the fish jumped out of the water and landed right in the middle of the net. He tore up the warning and told me never to take him fishing again. It definitely works well in an aquarium, as expected.
