Easy installation, great results!

The number of HD and analog channels we can access from our five wheeler RV parked in Central Florida has increased significantly. I didn't want to spend money on satellite or cable so I decided to give this a try. An initial station scan without the RV wing revealed 12 stations, only one of which was a local news station. After an extremely easy setup I was able to receive 6 HD only channels and a local news channel. A small rotation of the entire antenna followed by a channel scan revealed…

Overview before and after

Before I installed Wingman I did a channel scan and got 27 channels. Channels 1-14 were ok, 15 (ABC) was terrible. The signal level was 36 for channel 5 (CBS). After I put the slave on and did a scan, the first channels 1-14 were good, the signal strength was 38 for channel 5 (CBS). Significant improvement has occurred in channels 15 and above. Channel 15 (ABC) was crystal clear. I still only had 27n channels, but that's probably all there is in Quartzsite, AZ. The instructions on the box say…

Still undecided on effectiveness

For less than $30 I was willing to try this to help add TV channels to an RV. The installation took literally 2 minutes. 3 plastic rivets were required to connect. I really hope the wind doesn't blow it away so easily. I'm not very good at how this thing works. Obviously this is something like a funnel for television waves. There's no wired connection, so it's purely passive. You have to aim it at the station towers. Well I didn't notice any difference. Maybe it just wasn't right for me now…

Wingard adapter for my old mobile home TV antenna.

Attaching to my existing antenna was easy, the hardest part was pulling out and installing the conductors. I was expecting an improvement in TV reception, but it didn't. I tried this out in an area with a strong TV signal, so you couldn't expect more signals to be added anyway. There is so much going on with this adapter that I hope the designers did a good job. Things like signal strength, digital and analog, terrain, distance from transmitter, etc.; They all contribute to the reception of…

Good product as expected from Winegard. However expensive.

I believe there is only one way to measure the benefit of this. It's amazing to measure it. I sat in my driveway and edited all 14 channels that I could easily pick up with my regular Winegard antenna and they were basically all in the 71-74% range according to my TV on wheels. I put on this nozzle, which is essentially nothing more than a director for a pseudo-yagi-ud antenna (no reflector?) and measured again. All stations are now in the 82-85% range. I don't have any information on what %…

It works! good for TV, radio and network antennas

I was skeptical about the Winegard Wing antenna. But to my surprise it really improves the reception of terrestrial TV. Before installing the wing, I raised the RV's antenna and aligned it to the best TV broadcast source in our landscape using an online digital TV reception map. I then scanned the channels on the TV, which revealed 34 channels with different reception strengths. I wrote down the channel numbers and their approximate signal strength. Then I installed Wing. I did a new channel…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Upgrades

3 fastening rivets were required. The sensor is already bi-directional +, this yagi mount makes it uni-directional, point the yagi nose at the transmit antenna(s) [*TX]. Unfortunately, my antenna mast can only be rotated 180 degrees +/-, so parking is required to allow the nozzle to be aimed where the transmitters are. The UHF stations where I used to make this cut are much more stable now and I get intermittent reception from stations that don't get through. Generally, my RV is about 90 miles…

Unfortunately, my antenna mast can only be rotated 180 degrees +/-, so parking is required to allow the nozzle to be aimed where the transmitters are.
