I bought this for my niece who likes to collect. I had to take the age recommendation seriously. She's 11, the box says 14+ (which I didn't realize when I bought it). I think this is a tricky but interesting build box that should really be something for someone a bit older. However the end result is beautiful and we all loved it including my 19 year old son who built it for my niece. There are many small parts in this box. Extreme care must be taken when pushing parts out of the frame, as they break easily. This happened with this set, and as a result, the mouse barely crawled out of the hole on the side of the box. It also takes a long time to assemble.
