I've been using it on Sony A7ii for a week now with a Commlite adapter. Everything worked great and I didn't have any loud noises like some others. The only noise I had was the focus ring, which made a little noise the first few times I used it. Since then it has disappeared. I bought it for hiking as I felt the Sony 90mm just wasn't long enough for most animals I find. Haven't taken it hiking yet but have used an external laptop and home studio on a tripod. On a sunny day I was able to shoot handheld at f16 ISO 400 at 1/500 and get very clear, beautiful images of flowers. The hand travel on this thing is so wide and I love it. Combined with the peak focus, Sony makes focusing so smooth. The packaging is surprisingly nicer than most of my Sony lenses. It has a nice feel and is very comfortable in my hands. My only complaint right now is that they don't make their own E-mount lens. I want to try 15mm for Astro but I won't until they come out with a Sony version I hope. Update: I've used this lens on many hikes in the field now. The only complaint is that the handle on the focus ring slides very easily, completing macro photography with a 1:1 aspect ratio. It doesn't matter since you're just throwing it back; but since i run around 6am in the morning i have to do it about 10 times so it can be annoying. does not affect the lens and has nothing to do with how wonderful it is to use this lens. Also, the focus ring doesn't make the noise I got the first week. I thought it would go away after a few days of use. When using this lens in the field, you can use a tripod or monopod. It's tough after several hours of walking. You don't have to, neither do I. All my work is done by hand, but my head hurts after a day in my hands. I still love this lens and it hasn't been removed from my Sony camera yet.
