We have a Labradoodle, Goldendoodle, and Cockapoo. With these 3 non-shedding breed dogs, taking them to the groomers got real expensive real fast. So early on, we took on the task of grooming our fur babies ourselves.We use a couple of pairs of Andis electric clippers. These clippers use interchangeable blades that trim to various lengths. But by far the most used blade is the #10 since it trims close to the skin. We have been using these ceramic #10 blades for years - they are our go to blade. The ceramic blades remain much sharper than the traditional steel blades. This is hugely important because it only takes one quick clean pass of the ceramic blades to get the job done on a dog that doesn’t want to sit still. The ceramic blades also stay much cooler with the friction so as not to heat build-up that could burn the dogs.Bottom line, these are high quality blades and are the only ones we use for our clippers on our dogs. Pet stores around here generally charge at least 30% more for these blades.We use 3 1/2 and 4 ceramic blades on the larger doodles. We generally use a 5 or 7 ceramic on the cockapoo. But we use the #10 ceramic on all 3 for the belly and rear area and for close trimming around the face and ears.
