I like having this storage on my LAN. I was able to copy my entire media library to it and watch movies while running Kodi on a Raspberry Pi. It made movie night a lot less stressful. The user interface of this system is pretty good and it's easy enough to set up and create shares with access controls. I really wish it didn't create Apple shares by default, it creates a bunch of junk files that you don't need on Windows or Linux. What worries me is that exactly 3 weeks after receiving and configuring it, I noticed that drive 1 had an error and was removed from the raid array. I was able to rediscover it, add it back to the array and rebuild the RAID, but 3 weeks is way too early to get a failure on a NAS that should be highly resilient - unless you believe the latest articles. about HD Red drives that use galvanic magnetic recording, making them totally unsuitable for NAS arrays. I'll be keeping a close eye on this Disc 1 for the time being and will contact Buffalo Support with some very sensitive questions if any more problems arise.
