This works for what is meant to reinforce an existing toilet bracket that may be defective. I installed it on a standard PVC toilet adapter which after replacing the bottoms was no longer strong enough to hold the toilet. My other choice was to cut the PVC drain from the basement and try resetting the adapter. This metal adapter fits over the expected grooves. The other nice thing about it is that you can attach screws to the bottom or sub-floor around the edges, which is what I needed.
