Honest review - pros and cons with some tips :)

I heard about this product on a gardening group on Facebook. Someone was delighted, someone complained about the price. But I was curious. Last year I planted various gardens (perennials, annuals, planters) in my new home and just created 280 feet of raised beds for planting. I'm tired of carrying a tape measure with me. So I decided to give it a try. First off I would like to say that I think this product is really good for "raised bed gardening" and for two specific groups of people - those who are new to gardening. and don't really have a clue about proper planting spacing, and us oldtimers with sore knees and sore backs who just want to do the planting process as quickly as possible so we can come in and get some advice lol. If you are a super strong 35 year old man who has been gardening for several years you may think this product is not needed. But for those who are just learning or teaching kids or who are starting to have trouble gardening without pain, this thing is a great tool. With some caveats. You can probably use this in flower beds etc but I don't see it as being as useful as in raised vegetable beds where squares and rows work best. A few issues I had were clumpy debris, loose debris and the included hole punch poker product has a few issues. Here are some tips to make this work best for you: 1) Align the section you want to plant as best as you can before you begin. Remove any clods of earth as this will prevent you from laying the square properly. 2) Wet the soil from the hose before starting work. Not soaked to the skin (you don't need mud), but enough so you can see your squares as you press them into the ground. If your soil is too dry, you won't see the marks you make. 3) The orange "poker" meant to make holes is a kind of mixed bag. Many seeds only need to be planted 1/4" or 1/2" down, but if you only push the poker 1/4" through the template into the ground, in many cases you won't be able to see where yours are Holes are are so I learned to just make the biggest holes I could and then go back and work the ground where the holes were to the right depth, you'll see what I mean when you do that Use product Otherwise highly recommended Saved me a LOT of time planting corn and some other stuff!
