The best part of this product is the "set and forget" nature. We wanted to use these for a change in our decorating this Christmas. The units have a 4 hour and 6 hour schedule option that was perfect. We used the six hour option which turns the lights on for six hours then 18 hours off and repeats. By turning the lights on at sunset in this mode, we never had to fuss with them (short of replacing any batteries that were weak) for the holidays. They just turned on (at about six PM) and off (at about midnight) using the same 24 hour cycle. The only trick to THAT is that there is no "time" awareness. You have to be there at the desired "ON" time of day (in our case 6 PM) to start the cycle the first time. Other than that, we just set them and forget. Definitely a winner.
