Review on Wyvern 7 Piece Titanium Countersink Adjustable by Edgardo Ennis

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Coarse, blunt, slow cutting

Looks like a good deal and would be if it worked well. But that's not the case. I tried drilling some test holes in a piece of 2x4 scrap (see photos) and my results weren't very good. They may look like properly made point drills, but the cutting edges aren't very sharp, or maybe they aren't sharpened at the right angle, or maybe the "titanium" coating is getting in the way. Using a 6mm bit (just under 1/4") and my DeWalt 18v bit, it took me 10 seconds to drill a 2x4 hole, ie 1-1/2", accompanied by the smell of burning wood . Imagine what they would do in hardwood. A roughly ground countersink that looks more like a metal beveling tool gripped rather than cut cleanly, leaving a jagged surface. My advice? Skip them.

Pros
  • Handy
Cons
  • So far so good
