I was a little confused by the reviews about these unnecessary ones and I should have read them more carefully. The reviews are about bamboo needles with plastic line, not steel needles with steel line. I tried using them to create a magic loop and found that the steel cable was too stiff to create a streamlined knit. I've tried loosening the cables a bit but haven't noticed any difference so far. I'm relatively new to knitting so I find these needles very difficult to work with. Maybe someone with more experience can handle it.
