Review on Maxell 648720 Recording Surface with Premium Quality, 48x Write Speed, 700Mb Capacity, Printable White Matte Disc (100 Pack) by Mark Hayes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good value but poor packaging

These CDs cost less than the Verbatim brand CDs (they are excellent) and appear to be just as good. I've had 100% success on both the recording side (data and music) and the printing side. I strongly recommend using printable CDs for labeling. Lightscribe is dead (too expensive and slow), and applying paper labels is too manual, expensive, and dangerous (adhesive wears out eventually). 05/22/2012 I have now used the CDs several times and reordered them. For some reason, Revain doesn't pack them for safe and sound delivery. Many reviews speak of the same problems. Boxes and spindles are broken. Still, I've never had a bad CD. But I downgraded my rating from 5 to 3 stars due to chronic shipping issues. Why have so many reviewers encountered the same issue, why didn't Revain get the message? I will continue to order these CDs when the price is low. It fluctuates wildly, so check back often to try and catch it when the price drops (it's only $15.99 I see). Keep any undamaged spindles and drawers you can get, you'll need them in place of most broken ones. If you can't wait and Verbatim are about the same price, go for them.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
