I bought this pump because I needed to use bottled water for a plumbing job in my house. I love that this pump doesn't require batteries to operate. It's good for home use and I'm sure it can be used for camping too. The pump fits my 5 gallon water bottle, but without a small modification it will not fit my 3 gallon US bottles. 3 gallon bottle for 2 times. First, the hole at the top of the bottle is too small for the pump to grab properly. I've seen some people suggest rubber bands in the reviews and others suggest O-rings. I didn't have either at the time. Hair ties were the next best thing. I used the ones I bought at the local pharmacy, they are black, made for extra grip and actually look like a large o-ring. Depending on the opening size of your bottle, you may need 1 to 5 to get the desired effect. You may need to layer them. You know this is correct when you can tighten the screw on the clamp without loosening it and the pump doesn't move. The second issue with 3 gallon bottles is the length of the tubing. The hose consists of 2 parts that are connected to each other. Because they are made for 5 gallon bottles, using a 3 gallon hose is too short and using both hoses is too long. I solved this problem by using a tube along with the plastic tube I had. This makes it easy to switch between 3 and 5 gallon bottles by simply changing the hose. The pump fits my 5 gallon Primo water bottles as intended. I am very happy with this purchase and if the need arises again I certainly would not hesitate to order another.
