The mount itself has a secure clip, even for the large case I use with my iPhone XR. It has a convenient release button. The base didn't take up much space to be installed on the dashboard. I've also tried the bleed clip and I haven't seen it work that well. There is a wing nut that tightens the clip to the air vent for a strong connection. The same wing nut is tightened on the blades to keep the blades from wobbling and from moving. My experience with previous vent mounts has shown that they don't work as well in winter when heat escapes and the phone overheats. I set it low and will see how it works in a few months.
