Let's get one thing straight ahead. Whether you shoot only in daylight and only shoot stationary targets, or shoot in full manual mode most of the time, I'm sure this camera will suit you. Family, especially my four year old boy's adventures and misadventures. We spend quite a bit of time indoors and it's winter now so there isn't much light most days. My primary goal is to move around a lot and not tolerate framing, fiddling with settings, or slow shutter speeds. That's why I spend a lot of time shooting with automatic or program auto. I'm a common photographer looking for a camera for everyday use. And as an everyday camera, the G9X didn't convince me too much. The big missing feature is the automatic minimum ISO shutter speed. It has a variable to set the ratio at which the camera trades ISO for shutter speed, but there are only two relevant settings: prioritize shutter speed over ISO and vice versa. At default settings, the camera will adjust the shutter speed to 1/20-1/60 (depending on the zoom) before even changing the ISO. A fast setting will push the ISO to the max unless that results in a shutter speed over 1/1000. That . . . not good. Shutter priority mode is there, but then you forget you turned it on the next day when you're shooting in the park and everything is blurry or shot with a shallow depth of field. Why can't Cannon just give me this simple pen like smarter competitors did? The other major downside is USB charging. I never managed to get it to work. There was something on the internet about having to use the original cable so I bought it but it still didn't work. This is rather weak for a device of this generation. All in all, not a bad camera if there weren't much better alternatives. I recommend one of the newest RX100's that don't have the issues I was complaining about. Most of them have wider loading ports. I just got rid of my G9X Mark 2 for one of these and I like it better.
