I installed this on my John Deere F932 lawnmower. JD wanted $150 for a factory and used ones were around $90 online. The installation instructions for setting the resistance range were very simple. I used my multimeter to measure the resistance range of my transmitter unit when it was empty and when it was full (about 8 and 184 ohms in my case). So I chose the range of 10-180 ohms. You hold the mode button for about 3 seconds to put it into setup mode. The backlight starts flashing. Then press and release the Mode button until the arrow points to the fill mark on the sensor, which corresponds to the resistance range as shown in the instructions. In my case, I had to press and release a few times until the needle was half full, which is 10-180 ohms. Once installed, turn off your device and you're done. You can also set about 6 different backlight colors, but I didn't go into that. I left it red by default.
