After my old JVC VCR finally died after over 10 years of faithful service, I bought another JVC. Unfortunately it was never able to sync and didn't align. Then I went to Amazon and after reading many reviews I settled on the PV-V4525S as the best value for money. Unfortunately, the device had a real problem. The power cycle was only held for 5-6 seconds at a time. Cannot be configured. With growing frustration, I discovered how seamless Amazon's return and exchange system works. Before I had time to send in the faulty USPS unit (at their expense), I was told a day later that a replacement was on the way. Brilliant. As for the replacement. Since it was a cable box, the lock wasn't time-synced and had to be set manually. No problem. After that, the first record was great. A common problem with stop-on-fast-forward that gets talked about a lot seems to be just a minor annoyance that I don't find hard to stomach considering the good quality of the recording. The big clock, another defining factor that I'm used to from my old device, is bright. I'd love to be able to toggle AM/PM when programming, but WTH nothing's perfect. Now for longevity. My thumbs are crossed.
