Be careful in hardwood! I read the reviews and direction of going into hardwood. 1/4 inch into hardwood and boring out the hole in oak will not do it! I bored out the hole and screwed the bolt in. I used a wrench on the angle to try and relieve some pressure on it also. A few more turns and it would have been in but it snapped. I had to take a larger metal drill bit and drill the whole thing out. I inserted a poplar dowl and made another 1/4 inch whole and put the new bolt in by hand. My lesson with this product is that for softwoods 1/4" is just fine and twist by hand. If hardwood, try out something a bit larger than 1/4" and twist by hand. If you can't do it by hand don't expect it to not break. The angle can only handle so much torque.
