We mounted these lights above our living room shelf. They are the perfect ambiance. The only downfall (for our needs) is that they have different modes of flashing and steady on. Because they are up high they are controlled by a dimmer switch on the wall. If you shut the dimmer switch all the way off and turn the lights back on, they flash as that is the default in the control box. The manufacturer needs to set the default in the control box to STEADY ON not flashing. Fortunately we had an old set of rope lights without the box that makes them flash and just switched the two. Other than that, they are a great set of lights.
