I am not sure how "Sandbox toys" got in the description. For the definition that adults use for that term, these toys do NOT fit at all. A 2 year old. they are going to play in the sand with them anyway and have fun. These toys are great for indoor and hard surface playing, though. Great make believe toys. Enough of the parts move to make my 2yo happy and content. Once he got them in the sand the small drive wheels ground to a halt and even after hosing them off, never rolled again. Which takes away the fun of playing them inside the house, of course. But overall he still adds them to his tractor bucket whenever he wants to play in the dirt/sand. The way they work. All the drivers swivel back and forth when the drive wheels are rolled. Also when the drive wheels (front) are rolled, the buckets on the loader and excavator, the fork on the forklift, and a little thing in front of the driver on the road roller moves up and down a fraction of an inch for animation. The size is good for my 2yo. Only the excavator's arms are stiff enough to stay in position when you let go. The forklift and the loader's buckets freefalls to the ground position (the forks don't actually touch the ground, tho). The forks do fold up, adding another manipulation. No parts have broken off or are loose, so I would say the construction as good. Simply. a good set of construction toys for a 2yo, just not made for all it's components continue to work after a toddle uses them in the sand. But I suspected that in the beginning. The price was perfect, though, and i enjoy seeing my little guy get excited to use them.
