This involves replacing your truck's stock filter and intake baffle with a cheap plastic pipe and K&N filter. Installation is easy and can be done with a set of sockets and basic tools. Unfortunately, all you get is terrible sucking noise from both your engine and your wallet, with no measurable boost in performance. I ran the K&N system for a few months to monitor its performance. Acceleration was much less smooth and mileage was actually slightly worse. The return of the stock intake system resulted in quicker, smoother acceleration without the awful intake noise. If you want more hum, your best bet is to look at exhaust systems.
