Review on Heltec Wireless Upgrade Development 0 49Inch by Leslie Matlak

Nice little LoRa board

This is a great board based on ESP32. The LoRa radio works well. I can successfully communicate with the Adafruit RFM95W LoRa board I have. I'm using the RadioHead library for LoRa instead of the Heltec library. Wi-Fi works as one would expect from the ESP32. The small OLED screen is pretty cool. Well, if the screen is already connected. The screen is quite small. This is useful for debugging or small status updates, but not very practical when working on a production quality project. I use the screen to display the IP address. Note that you need to split it into two lines to see the full IP address. I'm using the Heltec library for screen control. I tried controlling the screen with Adafruit_SSD1306 and Adafruit_GFX but couldn't get it to work properly. There are currently two other reviews on this product (both look pretty useless). One complains that the product wasn't delivered to them and the other complains about a previous problem with the description. I felt comfortable with the purchase because I also saw this product on ebay. I'm glad I decided to try it. I would recommend this product. I'll probably buy one of the "Wireless Stick lite" boards that doesn't have an OLED screen so I can use a larger external board.
