Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Wadoy RV Furnace Screen: Stainless Steel Vent Cover with Tool - Ultimate Protection for RV Water Heater by David Jenkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks solid but the attachment system is actually poor - better to attach with wire

There are small springs in the kit designed to secure the screen to the water heater grate (and the firebox outlet). The springs come with a small tool to install them, and that tool works great, but it seems two springs per strainer is barely enough to hold it up when cruising at freeway speeds. Conclusion - I threw out the springs and twisted the wire from the back of the water heater grille. It feels MUCH more durable to me and this product would be better if it came with stainless steel twisting wire instead of springs. The exit from the oven was a bit tricky as there was no grate to attach it to, so I took the same idea and twisted the wires around an aluminum nail on the back of the oven exit. I had to remove the entire oven lid to do this (because the oven spout has to be screwed to the oven lid), but it still worked much better than the springs. This requires a design change to make the screens more secure. Solution. For now I'm giving this 4 stars because the screens themselves seem like a good idea and are solid, but the mounting system needs improvement. Photos of water heater installation - I didn't have photos of the stove but the idea is the same.
