Review on Dorman C660016 Parking Brake Cable by Brad Blake

This Dorman C660016 parking brake cable was perfect to replace my OEM on my 2005 GMC, that's where the positives end. This cable was a cheap replacement. Start at the end of the wheel and move forward.1. The spring was larger than the OEM and pushes against the brake lever dust boot, I can only assume it will eventually break the boot. just enough for the spring to catch on it, making installation difficult, and the metal will rust here in the rust belt.3. The mounting bracket was metal, about half the thickness of the OEM and had no tab to prevent twisting, the anti-corrosion coating was noticeably lighter than the OEM. Like the OEM, I cut some PEX tubing and stuck it onto the cable in places that would rub. 5. The bracket on the front end was the same as on the rear. thinner than OEM cables. 7. The cable inside has not been covered with plastic like OEM, this is the biggest disadvantage as the cable is likely to corrode and seize quickly. The lesson here is to spend a few extra dollars and buy an OEM cable.
