You'd think I wouldn't have any ear problems in 75 years if I lay on my side most of the time. I thought I might have skin cancer but luckily the biopsy report was chronic inflamed tissue. My dermatologist recommended I get an "ear cushion". I didn't know such a thing existed, but I'm glad it exists! I chose this one as it had an ear piercing on the left and right side of the pillow instead of one. I particularly like the ability to adjust the height of the pillow. The foam is soft enough to be comfortable yet supportive. I removed all 3 extra layers to get the most comfortable height for me. As a seamstress with almost 70 years of experience, I have to say that the design of the case is brilliant! Others complained that the zipper was difficult to close, but I had no problems. This requires attention to how it works, which doesn't seem like it at first glance. The picture in the description is helpful. I'm used to sleeping on a medium-firm, firm foam pillow, just to let anyone know what I'm used to, rather than a plush down or polyester pillow.
