Dorman have made the perfect replacement part. The part fits perfectly, although the appearance of the part is not quite the same as the one it replaced. I discovered this after trying the part with a wrench. Then I crawled under the truck to remove the old part. Surprise! The old actuator has a large hex head. I used channel lock pliers to remove the old block and another wrench to install the new block. An additional tool was required, a flathead screwdriver, to remove the old electrical connector. I used it to push the old connectors apart instead of pulling on the wires. Overall, assembling the correct tools, including three trips to the tool box, took twice as long as actually replacing the part. . Please note that I was considering switching to an alternative mechanical drivetrain as I think this guy was a dumb idea from GM in the first place. After looking at the cost of the parts, drive and extra wiring from the transfer case to the transmission drive and the labor to change the truck wiring to accommodate the short wiring harness, I figured I'd buy this type of unit about 5 could replace. So I'll be patient and wait a few more seconds. I think I stopped waiting anyway so as not to damage the gearbox.
