Whatever it is, it definitely paid off after the first use. The quiet operation is also a plus. The only downside is that there aren't any wheels to move this thing around as it has some weight. But aren't they all? I used a small open ended (not spade) drill bit to get a feel for where to go. I was surprised that all those roots were ripped out a little! (see image). I then used the larger one to remove any extra roots that the smaller one might have missed, but it came out clean.
