I use this as a speed controller for my car fan motor. The original speed control pulley has melted so much that it no longer makes contact. This is a fairly common failure mode for this type of switch. I've seen a lot of cars with speed settings that didn't work, so I didn't want to replace them with original parts. So far, so good.
