Review on πŸ”Œ Metra 70-1730 Amplified Wire Harness for HONDA 2008 and Newer Models (Black) by Carlos Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This wiring harness is ideal for Honda premium audio systems. MUST HAVE OUTPUTS ON THE HEAD UNIT!

Used to connect JVC KW-NT500HDT to my 2008 Honda Accord EX-L 4dr V6 with 6 CD Changer (now removed) and Premium Audio (not removed). The JVC main unit features pre-outs (front left/right, rear left/right, rear left/right) and the ability to turn off the internal amplifier, reducing heat inside the unit. If your head unit only uses the built in amplifier and does not have preamp outputs then this is the wrong harness. INSTALLATION NOTES: PLEASE NOTE THESE: If you wish to use the steering wheel controls (and you are a Metra ASWC or equivalent), you should also buy a non-amp wire harness and steal two pins from it to add to that harness (use it like a suicide wire). . This harness does not have these pins, although they are present in the factory connector (I believe they are on pins 5 and 16). I had to use wire cutters to break the plastic connector on the suicide harness so I could steal two wires and attach them to this one. (By the way, DriveAccord.net was a great resource for my setup) BTW, after much searching, the backup signal wire is NOT present on the Honda Factory wiring harness (for those looking to install a backup camera). Apparently it's under the driver's step bar, but I just routed the cable back into the trunk along with my video cable and soldered it into the reverse light cable itself. I routed these two cables under the center console, under the carpet, then under the back seat, then under the padded vertical corner to the right of the seat back, and then along the left side of the trunk. (I wish someone could tell me all this from the start, I could save a few hours) HOPE FOR THIS HELP!
