Review on DIYHD 12" Rustic Green Bronze Barn Door Handle Pull With Pipe Handrail For Sturdy Grip And Style by Justin Abreu

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Looks great, easy to install

Ordered on June 5 and was given an arrival window of June 27 to July 18! D-:> Amazingly, even though this was shipped from China it arrived June 15, just 10 days after the order was placed! As for the handle itself, it looks fantastic. I ordered this one in particular because I have the same style of handle on my kitchen cabinets and I wanted style continuity, and this product was very reasonably priced in comparison to other stuff that's out there. I didn't have any threading problems with the screws - they were powder coated but only on the visible heads with some light over spray on the threads which didn't affect how they threaded into the handle. I made sure the test-thread the screws before I drilled anything in my door just to make sure before I put irredeemable holes in my brand new barn door! The package will come with 7 pieces: the bar handle, the finger pull, two screws, two "washer" plates for the bar-side of the door which cover the areas you screw the holes, and the appropriate allen wrench for the screws - they're not phillips head. I didn't chisel anything out of the back side of the door for the finger pull side as there wasn't that much of a stand-off from the door when I test fit it - like a 1/16" of an inch gap or fractionally smaller than that. Decided it wasn't worth the effort. The only hiccup in the whole process for me was that the powder coating on the screws meant that the included allen wrench didn't fit into the holes for the screws but I had other bits in my toolkit I could use. If you don't have a decent-sized set of driver heads then make sure to test fit the wrench before you try to install so you can run to the hardware store and find a more size-appropriate wrench you can use.Lastly, the handle does not come with instructions but they are basically as follows:- Decide at what height to install the handle.- Measure locations for screw holes (mine ended up being 7-1/8" between top and bottom holes) Measure, measure, measure, measure, and measure again! Hold up the handle to your marks to verify they're in the right locations and are spaces correctly, then measure again! (Can you tell that the thought of putting holes in my brand new door was stressful for me?) :-P- Drill the holes for the screws, starting with smaller bits and working up to a size the screw fits through (for me it was 3/8").- Put the screws through the finger pull and then through the holes just drilled.- Put the washer plates over the screws then start finger-threading the screws into the bar handle to hold the assembly in space while you switch to the wrench or a power drill for the rest of the work.- Tighten until secure.- Admire your amazing craftsmanship and awesome new door handle!TIP: When measuring for the placement of the handle on your door, put some painters paint on the door in the area the handle will be installed so you don't have to make a bunch of marks on your door itself. Once you get the right placement, drill through the tape at both hole locations with your smallest "starter" drill bit and then remove the tape for the rest of the process.Overall, the process was easy, the handle looks spectacular, and the powder coating held up pretty well even when I was using my power drill to tighten the screws in place.
