I use them outside to protect screw heads and for removing screws later. I made septic tank access covers from reclaimed wood so they can be easily cleaned every 4-5 years. They are bolted to the wooden frame to prevent children from lifting the wooden lids (which are sealed with cement plugs). Screw caps don't last forever on the outside, so replacement is required. It fits me.
