Review on Extech MN35 Digital Mini MultiMeter by Derrick Duck

I liked this counter at first, but it didn't last long. I used it fairly regularly (maybe once a week) for about two and a half years before it broke. I work in experimental physics, so I use many instruments quite extensively and I know how to use all their functions. While we have a collection of multimeters in the lab ranging from other Extechs to Flukes, I wanted to buy a basic multimeter for my own home use. A meter I use often in the lab is the Extech Autoranging, and it has served me well so I decided to buy a more basic Extech meter for personal use. I used this meter mainly to measure DC voltage, resistance and continuity. Checks. In general, the sensations are quite pleasant. It's a bit light, but it has tight connectors and the switch snaps securely into place. It was accurate enough while it worked. The bug started with the pass-through buzzer getting stuck, so it buzzed constantly on all settings. This, of course, negated the benefit of the continuity test. Shortly thereafter, the measuring device failed completely and now shows incorrect measured values in all settings. I know many people have had success with this model but I can only give one review based on my experience which has not been good. I'd say at this price point it might be worth a try, but be aware that Extech's overall quality control seems sub-par.
