My microwave is no longer so dark while cooking that you can't see the food without turning off the kitchen light. Our LG microwave/hood came with very weak 30 watt bulbs, although the manual says you can use 40 watt bulbs. Unfortunately, microwave cooking took place in such dim light that it was difficult to see the food moving forward as it cooked. Switching to this lightbulb solved the problem. Not only is it brighter because it's a 40w bulb, it's even brighter than a regular 40w bulb because it's a xenon bulb. The intermediate base is the same size as the C9 Christmas lights. Fortunately, buy 3 packs of Revain Grimaldi Lighting E17-E12 lamp adapters to make up the difference in lamp base size. This is the correct number if you also want to replace the two lightbulbs under the bottom of the microwave/hood to better illuminate those lightbulbs and stovetop cooking.
