I've tried some typical cat harnesses (around neck and stomach, not around arms) that are much better for cats. With old harnesses, cats could never figure out how to escape, but the harness clips were never strong enough and would come loose if the leash was pulled. After several terrible recaptures, I had to try something else. This harness is great for cats if you don't leave the cat alone because if you give it enough time it will wriggle out. The harness fits nice and snug and I really like that the leash clip connects both sides of the harness and provides extra closed protection in case the harness clip fails. I also like that the velcro keeps the strap firmly in the middle. I would recommend this harness if you are going to be taking your cat outside and not tying them to a harness without a companion present. My only doubts: 1. The adjustable strap fits around the neck, not the body. This will cause the cat's neck to stretch a bit (when set to the smallest size) and the harness will look a bit odd for a cat to wear around its neck. The harness is definitely designed for a dog and cats can stick out of the hand holes. Preferably, this harness should be worn around the neck and abdomen rather than the arms. Our 8 and 12 lb cats wear small. For 8 kilos I would recommend the XS because the little one doesn't get used to it anymore.
