Real wood with sand like material on both sides, I don't see the sandy spots lasting very long.

I love that it's real wood and pumice stone has been added to help with claws and beaks. The only thing I see as a problem is the pumice stone which wears down with use and I honestly don't think it will last long. At least the ones I ordered. It's good though and I love it, just wish these things were at least longer for the price.
