Tips for installing good headlight bulbs

After reading some reviews and seeing how some people install them I thought I would share some tips. I built cars for the police and ambulances and made a living with all kinds of spare parts from different manufacturers. If you've never installed car headlights before, there are a few basic things you can do during installation to ensure you're protected from water ingress and premature failure. Tip 1: Always install the female end of the connector face down. This will prevent water from getting onto the gasket at the joint and into the plug. Any water that gets into the connector does not seep through the seal but remains in the connector and corrodes the connections. Tip 2: Use a small amount of dielectric grease around the gasket to make the connector easier to seat and create a more effective seal. You can get it at Walmart for $2 or any auto parts store for a little more. Tip 3: Leave a drip loop! Position the wire so the end that goes into the car harness connector has some slack and is pointing down. This allows gravity to pull the water down and away from the connection, in turn preventing it from sitting on the plug. Hope this helps someone.
