First off, as others have said, this is a solution to a problem that really shouldn't have existed in the first place. The electronics in it must be made of very high resistance material as it gets very hot and that is probably why it failed. Most likely hot enough to melt some of the cheap plastic inside and the springs that keep the pins extended and spring loaded have failed. As you can see in the picture 2 of the 5 pins are recessed and will not come out. What makes the connection is temporary and I have to constantly move it to make contact again. Apple-branded hardware keeps getting worse, as much as I hate liking hardware.
