I've been hesitant to buy climbing shoes for years. I saw no point in spending so much money on something that might not be of any use. Finally gave up and bought. First things first: These are climbing shoes. Don't use them for anything else. I usually do CrossFit in CrossFit shoes. These shoes feel like the stiffest running shoes - they have a stable heel. If you have running shoes, you will feel the difference. I didn't feel any difference in squats/deadlifts compared to the Nano 7-8, but I easily broke my squat record after purchasing these shoes. Was it the shoes or me? This was after you bought the shoes, so let's say they helped. There is one big difference with the Metcon 5, which feels soft on the heel. The heel lift is a notable opportunity compared to running shoes which tend to be flat. The higher heel was a game changer in the front squat. I really feel like my elbows are being lifted higher and the weight is pushing towards me. Cleanups/snatches are also beneficial. Very glad I chose them.
