My Samsung Evo 970 -Drive m.2 nvme crashed. 20 degrees Celsius. I originally sat at 80-85 with a max of 88 under the Aida64 stress test. It was so hot because my m.2 drive is on the back of an Asus Z97i-Plus Mini-ITX motherboard in a tiny case with little rear airflow. But after adding this, another thermal pad rated at 6W/mk, and pointing a 40mm Noctua fan at it, I now hit 60 degrees under load. Pretty happy with how it turned out. It fits perfectly in my Hadron Hydro case. I needed a low profile and it was perfect, leaving about 2-3mm of room for airflow.
