This key suits my needs. If you could program the transponder at a BMW dealer, that would be great. As an aftermarket dealer, you are not affected. In my case of a 2001 BMW 525i car I would just strip the guts out of my dead key so the transponder would still work and attach it to the inside of the plastic collar behind the ignition where it would communicate with the car and then the key would work. Keyless entry works great on my model of car, just look up programming instructions for yours to see if it's possible. The car is 18 years old, so the manual gearbox is quite theft-proof, and you don't have to pay 300 for the original key.
